Natalie Wieland, a senior at Ponderosa High in California, won the Division 2 girls race at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Subsection championship meet at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds at Angels Camp. Wieland covered the 3-mile course in 17:54.6, the second-fastest performance among all female competitors for the meet, leading Ponderosa to the section championship meet Nov. 13 at the Willow Hills Course in Folsom.
